Happy New Year, Pickleball enthusiasts and friends! As we step into 2025, I wanted to share my heart—quite literally—about something incredibly important: CPR training for Pickleball players.
I’ve discovered a new love for Pickleball! It’s exhilarating, social, and has brought me to the best shape of my life since having children. But as much fun as we’re having out there, many of us—myself included—are putting our bodies through a serious cardio workout. And because we’re laughing, competing, and enjoying ourselves, it’s easy to forget just how much physical exertion we’re enduring.
The Reality of Cardiac Emergencies on the Pickleball Court
Let’s face it: many Pickleball players are over the age of 50 and may not have a history of regular cardio workouts before discovering this fantastic sport. Unfortunately, this places us at higher risk for cardiac emergencies. Consider these statistics:
• Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) is one of the leading causes of death in adults over 40.
• According to the American Heart Association, immediate CPR can double or even triple someone’s chances of survival during cardiac arrest.
• Survival rates drop by 10% for every minute that passes without CPR.
This is why learning CPR isn’t just important—it’s essential for any active Pickleball community.
Shoutout to Local Pickleball Communities
I’m fortunate to play at incredible indoor clubs like Chips Pickleball Club in Eagan and Hope Fieldhouse in Rosemount. Whether you’re enjoying indoor courts or outdoor matches at your local parks, there’s one thing that unites us all: the need to be prepared for a medical emergency. It’s not enough to rely on emergency services—quick bystander intervention saves lives.
Twin City CPR: Preparing the Pickleball Community
At Twin City CPR, we’re on a mission to equip players, coaches, and gym staff with the lifesaving skills they need. We’ve organized a special CPR training session at a huge discount at Hope Fieldhouse in February, designed specifically for Pickleball enthusiasts, employees, and coaches. My goal is to get more bystanders trained so that, if the unthinkable happens, there’s always someone ready to step in and help.
Why You Should Join a CPR Class
By attending a CPR class, you’ll learn:
1. How to recognize the signs of cardiac arrest.
2. When and how to perform high-quality chest compressions.
3. How to use an AED (Automated External Defibrillator).
It’s a small investment of time that can make the difference between life and death.
Let’s Be Ready Together
If you’re part of the Pickleball community—or any active adult community—CPR training is a must. We’re growing together as athletes and friends, and we owe it to one another to be prepared.
Join me at our upcoming CPR class at Hope Fieldhouse February 1st, or schedule a private session for your team or gym. Let’s work together to make 2025 the year we prioritize safety on and off the court.
Sign up today—because saving a life is the best victory of all.
